October 2019 Town Board Meeting
NOTICE OF OPEN MEETING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Arkoe Board of Trustees will conduct an open meeting at 103 North Pearl in Arkoe, Missouri. The meeting will be held in the building owned by the Church of Jesus Christ, Arkoe Restoration Branch.
The meeting will begin at 7:00 PM CST on Tuesday, October 8, 2019.
The tentative agenda of this meeting includes the following:
- Discuss the continuing progress of maintenance/replacement of safety/information signs within the town limits.
- Discuss progress on acquiring computer for the Town Board's use.
- Discuss progress on previous letters sent regarding ordinance violations and new letters needed.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Arkoe Board of Trustees will conduct an open meeting at 103 North Pearl in Arkoe, Missouri. The meeting will be held in the building owned by the Church of Jesus Christ, Arkoe Restoration Branch.
The meeting will begin at 7:00 PM CST on Friday, August 9, 2019.
The tentative agenda of this meeting includes the following:
- Discuss the purchase of a computer and printer for use by the Town of Arkoe for the purposes of recordkeeping, electronic communications, and document printing related to town business.
- Discuss petitioning the United States Postmaster for the assignment of a zip code for the incorporated Town of Arkoe to alleviate misdirection of truck traffic due to the use of GPS systems; to prevent the illegal assessment of Maryville’s online use taxes on the people of Arkoe making online purchases through out-of-state vendors; and to ensure proper routing of 911 personnel when emergency services are contacted.
- Discuss the recent letters sent to homeowners in violation of nuisance ordinances and the ongoing efforts to comply with the ordinances.
- Discuss town maintenance initiatives, i.e. grading and restoration of streets and trimming of trees overhanging town streets.
- Review unused alleyways between properties that need to be closed.
- Discuss repair/replacement of fading signs on city streets.
- Discuss the placement of a public notice board within the town for posting required notices regarding upcoming pubic meetings; advice public regarding online location where public notices will be placed for viewing.

Polling Places
With the upcoming election next week, I thought I would post this again, even though I'm sure it showed up on the Facebook page previously.
In 1982, voters in North White Cloud Township did their voting in Combs' garage. Please turn out and make your voice heard this election season. The polling place is now at the church building on Rte U at First Street.

June 2018 Town Cleanup
Members of the Maryville High School Band came out to help the Town of Arkoe clean up the neighborhood. Despite the early morning rain, residents and the helpers were able to fill a large roll-on dumpster with miscellaneous trash. The rain abated and provide a relatively decent day for getting the work done.
The Town of Arkoe appreciates the hard work the band members put in and we hope they have a wonderful trip and successful parade in the fall.

A New School Year Begins

Arkoe folks were able to enjoy some cooler temperatures yesterday, and some rain! The crops here about surely needed both. Let's hope for a few more of those gentle downpours.
Just a reminder, school will be starting up again soon. Arkoe has several families with young children again, so let's watch out for those stopped buses here in town and on Route U, loading and unloading their passengers. We hope the kids have a great start to the new school year.

Summer is waning -- fall is on the horizon
Arkoe residents have enjoyed a relatively peaceful spring and summer. The warm temperatures took their time in arriving, and it looks like we might enjoy cool temperatures heading into September and October. The crops in the fields surrounding Arkoe are looking pretty good this year, thankfully, and county residents should enjoy a bountiful harvest.
School began on August 18, 2016 and we want to remind everyone to be cautious of the posted 15 m.p.h. speed limits in town. Buses are running again, and we have several young children living in the community who will undoubtedly be out playing and enjoying the cool temperatures as they roll in this fall.
Work is progressing on the 102 River bridge widening project and efforts and hopefully will be completed in the near future. The work related to the laying of new gas line through the town is also progressing. Residents who notice any street lights that are out should let one of the board members know as soon as possible so we can notify KCPL and get them returned to service.
An antenna was recently installed on one of the larger homes in Arkoe that will enable residents to have access to wireless internet services through United Services of Maryville. The antenna allows direct line of sight to the service provider's Bedison tower, which was previously inaccessible to Arkoe residents who did not have a second story on their home. If you are interested in utilizing these services you must sign up with the service provider individually. We hope, at some point in the future, that SuddenLink might also make its way toward Arkoe and give local residents another option for high-speed internet acess.
